Allama Iqbal College launches free schooling programme for transgender group
ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open College (AIOU ) has inaugurated a programme to ship free schooling to transgenders.
AIOU is understood for the uplifting of marginalized sections of the society, Zari Information reported.
The varsity’s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui, in a remark, mentioned, “We’ve got determined to launch a programme for the amelioration of transgender folks of Pakistan. By this programme, we hope to return their long-lost self-respect and dignity to them and make them accountable residents of the society.”
“We’ve got obtained a optimistic response from the group and have already began receiving functions for the programme,” he added.
The AIOU has been offering free schooling from matriculation to PhD stage to handicapped, visually impaired college students, and jail inmates. The scholars are supplied with computerized amenities to assist their studying.
