In order to further strengthen the legal function, SBP is looking for high caliber and dynamic professionals to provide legal support to SBP and its subsidiaries. The positions are based in Karachi.
Deputy Director / Law Officer (OG-3)
Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Provide legal advice/opinion on the issues pertaining to the various departments of the Bank and its subsidiaries to safeguard Bank’s interest and avoid its exposure to legal and financial liabilities.
- Examine and vet legal documents including contracts and other instruments.
- Expertise in drafting/vetting orders, guidelines, notices, documents, contracts, letters, legislation etc. in accordance with the requirement of Bank.
- Attend meetings/ seminars/ hold discussions on behalf of the Bank with Legal Advisor, senior management of the Bank/Government Authorities, Foreign Agencies/delegates pertaining to the legal issues/contracts and policies of the Bank.
- Review banking laws whenever required and suggest amendments therein with due reference to the prevalent requirements and future developments.
- Interact with counterparts as and when required in commercial banks with a view to discuss their problems and render legal advice and guidance from a supervisory and regulatory perspective.
- Appear before the courts and various other fora on behalf of the Bank, where necessary.
Assistant Director / Legal Officer (OG-2)
Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Coordinate with different departments of the Bank and its subsidiaries to facilitate legal advice/ opinion on the issues pertaining to general operations of the Bank.
- Draft/vet orders, guidelines, notices, documents, contracts, letters etc. in coordination with the requirement of Bank’s clients, departments and external advocates.
- Deal with legal issues in a timely and professional manner such that dependence on outside counsel is minimized.
- Assist superiors in reviewing banking laws whenever required and suggest amendments therein with due reference to the prevalent requirements and future developments.
- Analyze different banking laws and make recommendations for updating them for facilitating the operations of the banking industry.
- Appear before the courts and other fora on behalf of the Bank where necessary.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualification: At least LLB from HEC recognized University or Degree in Law from a reputable Foreign University. Candidates having relevant higher qualification will be preferred.
Age: Maximum 35 and 31 years for OG-3 & OG-2 positions respectively. Relaxation may be allowed in case of highly qualified or more experienced candidates.
Experience: At least 06 and 03 years of post qualification experience for OG-3 & OG-2 positions respectively in legal matters. Relaxation may be allowed in case the candidate possesses credible working experience in similar capacity in reputable organization. Candidates must have valid license to practice as advocate..
Compensation:
Competitive compensation package in salary scale of Deputy Director (OG-3) and Assistant Director (OG-2); including loan facility, medical, contributory provident fund and gratuity as per Bank’s rules.
